Beatriz López’s CONSUELO womenswear line

Beatriz López’s CONSUELO womenswear line

After graduating from Parsons the New School for Design, Beatriz López founded her CONSUELO brand to merge her passions for clothing and the environment. Beatriz writes that her brand “originates from an ethical and sustainable point of view and achieves this practice through a “slow fashion” movement as opposed to mass produced fashion, thus creating pieces with lasting value and minimal waste.
At CONSUELO we made a decision to take a different path from the standard processes the fashion industry tolerates. We hope one day there would be no need tocalled anything “organic”, “recycled”, “green” or sustainable because those would be our only choices. We continue to think that if we have the potential to create products that not only help the environment but people as well, then why not do it?”

Many of CONSUELO’s looks feature fabrics from NearSea Naturals; Beatriz writes that “I always purchase from Near Sea Naturals because you guys have a great selection of organic fabrics. I am so satisfied with the quality and the service.”
Garments pictured below include the following, complete with Beatriz’s commentary:
“Organic Embossed Melon skirt. I felt in LOVE with this fabric! The color and the weight! It has so much body.”

“White organic Denim pant. This denim is beautiful to work with and it feels great!”

“Embossed Melon mini skirt”

“Whitened Twill dress (front and back). I order this fabric by mistake thinking it was the denim but it turned out great! I like this twill better for dresses.”
The line is available in Puerto Rico, so it might be time for a vacation for those of us not lucky enough to live there… CONSUELO’s website, still under construction, can be found here, and the facebook page is here.
